The Cup of The Boss!

The last Monday of every month at the Weav' Poker Tour!  $20 buy-in for a shot at greatness!

The origin of the TDMC, as it's called for short, is simple.  WPT co-founder, Jason Piche, had a trophy and came up with the idea for a slightly larger buy-in for it.  Then he decided that the first winner would get to name the award.  Justin St. Louis won and that meant tom foolery and hijinx.  Then of course the Tony Danza Memorial Cup Award was created!  It's one of local poker's oldest trophies and will continue to be fought for every final WPT event of every calendar month!  Winning the Danza makes you the boss... at least for a month!

In May of 2008, with major assistance from Neil Hackbarth, the Tony Danza Cup got a major overhaul.  Another base was added to add 2 3/4 inches of length.  Now the cup measures 11 inches tall from cup to base!  Also something old and something new on the sides.  New is the typed names of the past winners (34 at the time of the overhaul)  20 names fit per side which leaves plenty of room for the future.  The something old is the green duct tape which covers all other spots so all future winners can still emboss their name on the trophy!  Then after awhile those pieces will be peeled off to make way for the printed out names as time goes on.  Also had to update the picture of Tony on the bowl.  The old one was showing it's age but the new laminated Danza should last forever!  Come try to be a part of history on the final Monday of every month!

5 Time, 5 Time, 5 Time, 5 Time, 5 Time Tony Danza Memorial Cup Champion, Mike Graves

The Gravy Boss wins again!

In one of the bigger fields in the recent past we had 7 players gunning to stop Mike Graves, but alas he could not be contained on his way to his 5th straight Danza Cup!  Ed Companion did all he could finishing second, and with that finish he took over the overall money won lead away from Pich' by just $3!! Justin St. Louis and Bernie Piche made rare appearances.  Despite the field being 1/4 Piche, those numbers quickly dwindled as the two went out first on the same hand.  Was this the last Danza Cup?  Or will the WPT live on?  Time will tell.

The WPT logo has been blatently ripped off from the World Poker Tour, but they gave it their blessing with different colors so I changed it to green and gold after about a 100 games.  It just so happened that Weav' Poker Tour had the same initials.  Oh well!  Anyhow keep in mind that these money figures aren't real.  It's just our way of keeping track of who does well.  No real money exchanges hands ever at our games. *winks
